Essential items to bring on your trip: Passport, warm clothing (for
evenings), waterproof jacket, cash card (and PIN!), towel (if you have room in
baggage), battery or manual razor, 12V car-charger for mobile phone (we have
Nokia and Motorola chargers).
All costs are shared and we organise a "kitty" before we leave the marina. In
2008 this was about £200 per week, but the exchange rate has since dropped by
about 20%. Costs include food and drink on board, evening meals, marina fees,
fuel, and laundry.
Before you leave the UK, it is wise to buy just enough Euro for the taxi or bus fare, plus a snack at
Heraklion airport: say £20 per person. You will get a much better exchange rate
at cash machines in Greece.
